    The first diagnosis can be made by parents

    “Oksana Slinko advises mothers and fathers to be attentive to their children and not to miss the moment when the situation can still be corrected. The teenagers who had a crooked neck, dysplasia of hip joint, features of rachitis, serious infectious diseases in their early childhood must be particularly ready for possible health problems. Scoliosis frequently begins from flat foot. Therefore, when the spine is being formed you shouldn’t save on shoes and buy bigger ones than are necessary or to wear tight shoes. You should opt for special shoes with insteps.

    You shouldn’t wait for the school medical check-ups. Deformation of posture as well as the first degree of scoliosis can be spotted even by the parents. And the second-third degrees are noticeable to anyone. Get your daughter or son undressed to their underwear. Look at the shoulder-blades and see whether they are on the same level. If one is higher than the other it already says about changes in posture. Look at the sciatic folds – if they are displaced there is a danger to have a deformed pelvis (it is especially dangerous for girls as future mothers). Let your daughter or son press their straight hands to the body and you will look at the triangles formed between the hands and the waist. If they are different you should go to a doctor. Let your child bend forward: if you notice a rib hump on one of the sides – you should immediately go to the policlinics. Pelvis distortions are also easy to diagnose. Put your legs together: if popliteal cavities are on the same level – everything is fine.

    Oksana Slinko tells from her experience that teenage girls more often have pelvis distortions and rib hump, boys – cyphosis (slouch). But if to correct it in time and take a firm decision to change the situation – eventually, everything will be fine.”

  • HEALTH IS THE MAIN THING. If you take care of it and look after it, everything will come by itself – fresh face colour, nice shape, good mood…
  • Correct nutrition. 99% of our appearance and our health depend upon it. Here are some of my rules: I eat my daily norm of food not during three meals, but during five-six, that is I eat little but frequently. I never overeat. And I don’t eat two hours before bed. I try if it is possible to eat more vegetables and fruit, drink juices and mineral water.
  • Move more. Don’t use a lift. For example, I walk even long distances and advise everybody to do it, and then as a reward you may think of a little treat for yourself. You may buy a banana or a small package of juice for the money you were supposed to spend on transport. You will have a double benefit from that.
  • Since our everyday motions are very much unvaried – squatting, bending – some of our muscles do not work at all, our stomach starts to “sag”, legs get deformed… Generally, special exercises are absolutely necessary. It would be very good to go to a gym in for shaping, aerobics, dancing two or three times a week. If you don’t have such a possibility, you should find 30-40 minutes a day for “home” aerobics, a complex of physical exercises. Get up an hour earlier and spend this hour on yourself, and then walk to your place of work. In a month you will see the difference. Don’t we have time to put ourselves to rights, to do make-up, to dress properly? And we usually have no time for the things which are no less important.
  • Try to find a possibility to have a series of massages every half a year.
  • And what is most important – smile more often and do not yield to a bad mood.

    For several years of coaching in aerobics Oksana noticed that regular exercises in aerobics influence even the capacity of women to have children. “I had several women who were undergoing treatment for infertility to no result, and the long-awaited joy came to them after several months of exercising in the gym. There is nothing strange. Aerobic exercises improve blood supply in small pelvis, resolute commissures, hence, corresponding organs and tissues start to function better.

    I had even such a case: a woman suffering from asthma had already lost hope to give birth to a child after 8 years of marriage, and after half a year of exercising she suddenly didn’t attend the gym. Instead of her there came her happy husband holding flowers and set all women laughing, “Your aerobics,” he said, “made my wife pregnant!
